383229 2005-08-23 15:16:00 The two competing standards for the next-generation DVDs, Blu-Ray (Sony, Matsu****a) and HD DVD (Toshiba, Sanyo, NEC), will continue to be incompatible after the proponents could not agree to a unified standard, as reported by Australian IT (australianit.news.com.au).

Seeing that PCWorld does not like Matsu****a, I will therefore support HD DVD...

383230 2005-08-23 15:35:00 The original article from reuters (today.reuters.com). I'm pretty slow on the uptake, I'm still trying to see any difference between current DVD formats and what they matter. Since Sony will be incorporating Bluray into their PS3, I'll probably put my money on them if there is to be a "vhs vs betamax" showdown. sal (67)

I hope someone comes along with a 50G, light-speed flash memory-based device and kills them all dead.

Go to the video store to hire some movies, you just plug your flash memory in and a time limited movie file is transferred to it.

Buy a new game or movie, it should come on a SD card or similar. Just think of the storage space saved, you could carry many SD cards in one customised DVD cover.

383233 2005-08-23 21:50:00 Presumably new TV's will need a flash card reader. :nerd: Cicero (40)

Nah.

Just point your next-generation Bluetooth flash-card reader-equipped mobile phone at your next-generation TV and it will play the movie...

383235 2005-08-24 03:17:00 Yes, and you'll be able to download the movie for only $5000 with the 3G phone. Graham L (2)
