382801 2005-08-21 08:43:00 Hey all, I see a few users have this motherboard. There maybe more now.

For those who have this mobo, have any of u flashed it to the latest
1005.001 beta BIOS??

If u have, can u remember whether u used Aflash 2.21 to flash the BIOS?

Because for some strange reason, when I load this bios update with Aflash 2.21, it says it isnt an ASUS file? It is definitely an ASUS BIOS update, coz its on the ASUS site. I dont know if the update is screwed, or 2.21 of Aflash somehow conflicts with the BIOS update.

I know this BIOS is a beta, but I've looked in other forums, and this update may fix the front USB ports, (and booting from USB drives/pen drives), on systems using this mobo. Well, the front USB ports work on the other PC here (the P4S8x-x), once you're in Windows.

BUT not if u try to boot from a USB drive/pen drive into DOS (And it should).

Coz the ASUS FAQ says it works, and the current BIOS (1004) has the USB HDD and USB ZIP option for them).

So, for those who have this mobo, can u let me know which BIOS u have at the mo.

382803 2005-08-23 23:10:00 Ah ok . I'll check his post in a sec .

Well I FINALLY figured out what the prob was here .

I use Powerarchiver, and it has an option for rar spanned archives (*001,*01) . This bloody thing was ticked .

And this is the reason why I couldnt get this 1005 . 001 file (without the zip extension) lol . Having this option ticked, it ASSUMED I was trying to extract a rar spanned file (which I wasn't) .

And all I was getting, when I extracted the main zip file, was 1005 . zip (this was meant to be 1005 . 001 - the update file) .

And it had a system . rom file in this 1005 . zip file (which was only 128k, which is WHAT I found odd . Coz the BIOS update is normally 256k .

So, FINALLY I flashed it last night to this 1005 . 001 beta BIOS .
