| 383972 | 2005-08-29 12:10:00 | I toured Australia and lived out of a 1984 Toyota LiteAce van for 18 months and put 35,000km on it. It is now some 310,000km old on the original engine and body. It never broke down, and it ran on the most dubious petrol I put in it. Even the electrics never broke down. Everywhere in the outback, in the bush, in the wetlands, in the islands, in the deserts - they were full of Toyotas and Nissans. Mostly LandCruisers, Hiluxes, Corollas, and Patrols. Strangely enough, Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores were much less common. I hear it is the same in Africa, Asia, South America and even Europe. Japanese vehicles are all over these places, but not American - for good reason. |
