382483 2005-08-22 05:38:00 A query regarding this.

My old man got a 025 fone from the warehouse about 7-8 years ago (roughly). He has since used it fairly regularly to call both landlines and cellfones and has never paid a cent except the original fone price (about $200). Why he doesn't pay for calls is beyond both myself and him but theres no complaints here.

Will telecom try to charge for these 8 years of free calls or is/was this deal a common occurence back then (assuming I try and get this newer fone for him).

Your old man has the grand prize of 8 years of service from telecom that was good value for the anonymous customer . . . . You've got the prize, now whatever you do, don't draw attention to your self and see if you can get another 2 years! The last thing i'd say to do is get a new phone and give Telecom your/his name just to save $100!

382485 2005-08-24 06:22:00 Just received email confirmation of my first "Swap". It states that there will be a fee of $49, with free $10 card, if I wish to proceed.I swapped my Dad's phone over, and the confirmation email I got stated there would be no charge for the phone, with no mention of a free $10 card. Also stated that the existing prepaid airtime credit would not be transferred over (I changed him from prepay to onebill). They must offer different things according to what scenario you fit into. :) Jen (38)
382486 2005-08-24 06:56:00 The way I am going to understand it is the phone is worth $49 and they are swapping it with my current phone. If they want my old phone they can send a self addressed courier pack and it will be on it's way.

A swap is a swap, ie. free.

382488 2005-08-24 08:14:00 The way I see this exercise after talking with friends who have made the change....
1. If you have 025 and are on a current monthly charge account - free swap.
2. If your have 025 on pre-paid and have registered - $49 and card.
3. If you have 025 and pre-paid but not registered - nuffink.
These may be wrong or not all the possibilities but they have happened.

382490 2005-08-24 09:14:00 Does this work with Gold Mobile at all?My Dad's phone was a Gold Mobile (Warehouse). He kept on using it occasionally and put credit on it at least once a year which is why I think it got accepted for the upgrade while my Mum's phone didn't. Jen (38)
382491 2005-08-24 11:05:00 Filled out the internet form Sunday night. Got confirmation email Monday saying my 027 phone should arrive in 3 to 5 working days. Phone arrived 10 oclock Tuesday morning. It has my $60 credit on it that I had on my 025 phone.
As of 3 oclock today my 025 phone still works.
