i can only find the 64 bit trial, is that what you meant?
thanks Nope - if you have a current XPSP2 CD you can slipstream SP3 into it on your computer, and make a Install CD, when you install it on the one you will build, - like Vista you can complete the install without having to put in the product Key, (doesn't allow windows update though until the key is installed) and allows you to load the mother board drivers.

When the person who buys it puts in a legal key it then allows it to use windows updates, and stops the 30 day timer.

In the user details you can put something like "owner". They can then change the name to who ever they want or leave it "as is"

Its a little like building a PC and using a existing product key, load all the drivers, then running whats called "sysprep" to reseal the PC before sale- you run sysprep, select the shut down option, someone buys the PC, it boots then owner adds in the product key of their own, along with details etc.

If you look at name brand PC's , Dell ,Compaq etc - thats basically what they do, but they have a special license key preinstalled - but in mass amounts of course.
The license key they use is NOT the same as the one on the COA thats stuck to the PC.

Just 2 more things
1 . what do you think would be a reasonable price?
2 . I have a legit XP product key and i think i can use it 1 more time before it expires, if i install it and actavate it with my product key then is that illegal?

Thanks once again

667254 2008-05-09 04:54:00 2. I don't think MS care what disc you use to actually install Windows, only what code you use to activate it. So I think it would be legal. pcuser42 (130)

Thanks once again If you install the OS XPSP2 and use your product key it will go in fine, BUT if you activate it, then that key will be registered to the hardware in that PC - so if you sell it you would have to sell the product key with it, which means it cant be on your own PC.

What you are referring to about the number of activations is you can activate the Key so many times on your own PC, Eg: reinstalls etc.

NOT on x number of different PC's, unless you have a multi user license. The keys are registered to the hardware on the PC.

If its been activated already, it may refuse the Key on activation, stating its already been activated on another computer, please contact Microsoft.

What you could do in your case if you wanted to put XP on - install it using your own key , User name = Owner - load the drivers, DONT ACTIVATE it, or even put it on the internet - then run sysprep and have it shut down. BUT the new owner would have to have a Legal Product key to get it going.

Other option as mentioned above is use XP SP3 - no product key required - for 30 days from install.

As for the price ?? As long as all parts are new - Look at places like Ascent, see that they cost, add them all up, add in any other costs, Eg: Labour, freight etc. THEN decide what you would be willing to sell it for - either you will get a couple of $$ or you may take a loss.
