Whats it cost? .

I don't like having things running in the background, I stop a lot of not needed Windows services... :clap

I think I will stick with Auslogic too.

667183 2008-05-07 22:44:00 the performance increase by defraging modern hard drives, even in realtime is almost nil. older hdds under like 40 or 80 gig yea but with hard drives these days in the 100's of gig range, theres no point williamF (115)

The more fragmented a file is, the more time the drive mechanism spends moving from fragment to fragment; There is a lot more wear and tear and the sooner the drive fails.:horrified

PS. IObit SmartDefrag can be used manually instead if that is what you prefer.
It has a setting that determines the level of processor use above which it will not run.

667185 2008-05-08 05:48:00 Do any of the on-demand defragers really improve on the one that comes with Windows? Vince (406)
667186 2008-05-08 06:02:00 Anything is better than the windows defragger .

Unless you want to spend all year using the windows one .

Since, it usually restarts, and goes round in circles, everytime something accesses the hdd .

Unless you enjoy defragging in safe mode
