2005-08-22 08:02:00 | I'm new in this forum but I got a problem is huge. Please don't mind that i'm an asian and a technology laggard. You guys must can't believe my telstraclear bill this month is $4778.31 caused by 20GB overusing internet. why things would go so out of control is really complicated. This starts from July. about 10th July we called Telstra we're moving and applied for the tow away service(move telstraclear service from our previous address to the new address). 16th July Telstra staff come to finish the move service. Telstra bill is usally sent out in the middle of every month. July bill didn't come to our latest address. So 20th July I called Telstra that I didn't receive the July bill. The staff said they sent the bill to the previous address and she would sort this out and sent another bill to my latest address but they didn't. At that time I didn't know I've already oversue the internet 1442MB worth $288.38 in June-July period. Last Friday when I received my bill I was startled I really can't belive what happend. The August bill is a two-month bill that show my June-July period overusage is 1442Mb and the charge is $288.38. My July-Aug period overusage is 20407mb and the charge is $4213.86. The reason why overuse so much is that i download an file sharing programme and when i start the computer it would operate automatically but i didn't know that it would upload information to internet automatically. I'm not asking compassion for my stupid unknowledgeable about this programme. This is my responsibility to check if the programme is safe. However, if I could get the July bill and knew the overusage, I could found out the problem earlier and the overusage in July-Aug period won't even happen. Is it the responsibility of Telstraclear to send bill to customer's latest address? is it the right of customer to know information timely??I think in this issue, Telstraclear is not free of fault, although I made mistake too! Once I received the bill, I contacted Telstraclear immediately, They won't admit their mistake and said they've sent the warning email to my paradise email address. (this is the first time i heard that i have an email address on Paradise website)They never allocate me an username and password of that.Again although I'm technology laggard but i'm not stupid. I got triple service one and half year ago and I din't receive any letter from Telstraclear about my username and password. One time I heard from my friend that he can check phone bill and usage on telstraclear website. At that time I thought why i didn't get access to internet? So I called telstraclear to ask for it but my phone call was transferred to several people and they gave me some music to listen while i was waiting and then the phone was not connected. Since I got busy doing other things and my bill never got problem, I din't call again and ask for username and password. But their manager said they did sent letter to us about our username and password. I have no evidence to prove that they didn't send:( :help: what should I do? I knew that it's impossible to not pay as I in fact overused internet. But Telstraclear also have some responsibility for it. Is there posibility that i can negotiate with them to pay less or i need to consult a solicitor? sorry about the messy information and hope i can get some advice.

2005-08-22 08:42:00 | We get this kind of stuff on a semi-regular basis from subscribers. You used the service, you pay for it. No solicitor is going to get you out of it. They would have made it clear to you that you'd be contacted on a Paradise address and you are expected to check that address to receive notifications about billing/payment/network changes etc. I doubt many here will have any sympathy for what is ultimately your own fault. But they didn't give me information timely!!! I think I'm going to fight for itYour usage information is available via their website as well as on the statements, or you could call them.

2005-08-22 08:46:00 | is there any people was in the similar situation? $4000 really too much for me . I am living on the student loan and allowance:(There is nothing you can do about it . You incurred it, you have to live with it . If they lete everyone off for things like this they'd be fast running out of bucks . I had a customer who would ring on day 2 or 3 of every month saying "Oh all my hours are used already because my kids left it on overnight, can you give me more for free - it won't happen again" Every month she tried it on, every month we said no . Perhaps you should be heading down to student job search instead of mulling it over here .

2005-08-22 08:47:00 | Re ninja, They didn't allocate me any username and password for paradise email.Hogswash. They send it out when you sign up for an account with them, standard operating procedure. I mean seriously ISP services are basically there for the use of e-mail and internet, who'd have thought they wouldn't provide an address. Oh yeah, and every time you refresh this thread you use more bandwidth

2005-08-22 08:53:00 | Re ninja, Please don't compare me with your customer, I had a good usage history. Telstraclear didn't send July bill to the right place made me didn't found out the software problem earlier. Am i crazy to overuse the internet on purpose? I should've known earlier if they give the July bill!! instead of two-month bill

2005-08-22 08:57:00 | their standard operating procedure is mistaken-free? I'm really sad that facing big company, I'm in the disadvantage place. I really didn't receive any letter about password information. Maybe you're right, who could believe me that i'm telling the truth? | echo (8762) | |
