| 668233 | 2008-05-11 03:27:00 | Anyone had troubles with Nero only playing some videos from the harddrive but not others ? Things like something its played before but wont now and a zip file thats downloaded giving you say 4 parts when its unzipped, it will play 3 of them OK but not the 4th. Any ideas ? Windows and Media Player Classic play them fine. | Clod (7853) | ||
| 668234 | 2008-05-11 16:42:00 | Since this site goes out to international members and unregistered readers . . . I am posting this as reference for other (US-types) in countries with different laws and regulations ONLY! I had this problem . . . until I removed and rolled back WMP11 to WMP10 or lower . . . . . One movie in particular: The Time Machine . . would play the first three chapters but not the fourth- on . It just knew it was being saved for later play . By whatever means it has, WMP11 attaches some sorta codec on the end of some DVD files . . or even a product recognition code in your puter . . . especially SONY Produced ones, that makes them unplayable and (in the US) unrippable . Some times, just attempting to rip a DVD in a puter will then make it unrippable in that same puter later on . It reminds me of the Sony Rootkit that made such a furor a while back . <NOTE: Until future notice, we in the US are allowed to rip and play most vids at a future date or in a different machine per the PROXY-USE law that stands at this date . It's a very gray zone right now . . . subject to the whims and fancies of whatever judge has gotten the latest plain manila envelope . . . and from whom . THIS may NOT apply to your country of residence . We await a court decision on this v . the Millennial Rights Act . I personally expect a change in the law by September, this year . . just in time for Hollywood to get the vote out for the election . > Hopefully you didn't accidentally get the "upgrade" to Windows Media Player11 that pops up looking like just a regular ol' update . . . they are pretty insistent on shoving it down your throat too . Every time I fire-up WMP 9 or 10, up pops this little card asking me if I'd like to upgrade my player . Nope! Been there: done that: Hated it . It isn't an update for whatever version you have of WMP . . . it's a new version with all sorts of things in it that you prolly won't like . After I accidentally clicked on it one day . . . I hadda delete all the vids I had as they could not be saved and played again from that point on . There are however, SOME people who actually LIKE WMP11 . I talk about them in a hushed voice and in dark alleys only with my tear-filled eyes cast downward . :dogeye: |
