667400 2008-05-09 00:01:00 In the office here we have 3 XP Computers connected thru Lan and a robotics 4 port modem. We are going to add another computer probally with Vista.

My question is will there likely be any probs with say Vista using info from an XP machine. We use Office 2003 mainly plus some Map programs etc.

667401 2008-05-09 00:06:00 Info like what?

You would still have to install Office / whatever program, if you want to load docs made in XP, in Vista

667402 2008-05-09 02:14:00 Yes realise that the programmes would need to be on both,
but are there any likely problems with XP loading docs from vista and vice versa.

667403 2008-05-09 02:17:00 No I dont think so, both should open whatever.

Just as long as they've got whatever program, to open whatever format the file is in.

667404 2008-05-09 05:37:00 Hi Arnie. Possible problem with Fonts? Vista loaded extra fonts on to my machine when I replaced XP, keeping Word 2003. What will happen if your Vista machine creates a "common" document incorporating one of the new fonts and then an XP machine opens it? Even when they are both using Word 2003? I know that the XP machine will find a replacement font but it could crap on any really fancy layout ..... Just a thought. It is possible to download Vista fonts for XP machines but is your workload worth it? ;) Scouse (83)
