| 667338 | 2008-05-08 11:19:00 | Right now the updater wants to download and install this. While service packs have always been a good thing for me, I have never blindly installed one without some research. So The good, the bad and the ugly? |

| 667343 | 2008-05-08 21:37:00 | Thanks Speedy some good info there. But I was thinking more of the sneaky things MS tries to get through like the Genuine Advantage tool not so long ago. MS would never put the info I am looking for on their download site |

| 667344 | 2008-05-08 21:42:00 | It only installs SP3 (all of the updates since SP2, till now), and what it says in one of those files. Some new features that Vista and Server 2008 have If you dont want the Genuine Advantage tool, (or anything else you dont want), dont put automatic updates on AUTO Then you wont get it, unless you install it yourself |

Heres one thing that messed up with the install of XP SP3, went to do an update, found there was a IE7 patch KB947864, allowed it to install on auto updates then it crashed, so I manually downloaded it, and tried to install that way and promptly got greeted with This Error Message (www.imagef1.net.nz) :groan: Other computers have been fine (So far) | wainuitech (129) | ||

(It didnt crash these tho) . It wouldnt install either (I had previously downloaded that file, the same error you posted) . So, the next time the update appeared, I unticked it, then closed the window . It hasnt come back since |
