385239 2005-09-01 06:34:00 Hi all,
On last night Fair Go, there was a brief mention of a way to get cheap international phone calls. I think it said to dial 0161 before the number you want. Never heard of this before, is it kosher and how does it work?

Also, I posted some time ago a request for info from anyone who had a heat pump. Well, we bit the bullet and 2 weeks ago had one installed. We are thrilled with the performance, and I wish to take this opportunity to thank those who replied, your information was taken on board before we made our final choice. FYI, a Daikin 6.5 kw inverter model. I estimate, based on the difference between the previous daily usage, and the current one, that it is costing around $1.30 to $1.40 per day. That will improve from now on though, as we are tending to turn it off as the weather gets warmer.
Ta all.

385241 2005-09-01 07:54:00 Calls may be of a lesser quality than standard Telecom international calls.
I'd hate them to be of a lesser standard, the standard as it is ****e usually.

I've always found it to be same quality if not better actually...

385243 2005-09-03 11:56:00 I've used 0161 for overseas calls. Maybe I was just lucky, but I found it really good quality and so cheap, compared to what I would normally have paid.

Hope this helps.

385245 2005-09-04 05:28:00 Made a call to Oz last evening, talked for around 15 mins, according to the published t/com rates for 0161, thats around $1.20. Connection quality was ok, a slightly delayed echo effect, but nothing too distracting. Can put up with that to save a few $$$$$.
