| 385105 | 2005-09-01 04:43:00 | Just a quick question. Are these cables worth it? We are just using the supplied DVD cables from our Sony DVD Player. I think they are a 3 plug composite cable (rather than the usual AV cable). Thanks. |

You'll get the best picture quality by using the component video (RGB) connections from your DVD to TV rather than composite as you are now using. Reasonable quality interconnect cable is all thats needed. These cables (www.ascent.co.nz) will do the job every bit as good as more expensive cables. |

| 385109 | 2005-09-01 07:00:00 | Slightly OT, I was told that S-video was better than component (all things being equal) this true? rgb is better than svideo which is better than composite. composite combines the signals, sends them down one cable then splits a part the signal into its orginal signals. svideo combines some of the signals and sends them down a few cables (notice the amount of pins on the svideo cable) then splits the signals apart at the other end. componant or RGB basicly uses one wire for each signal, no combining or splitting needed. the less combining/splitting the better the picture (assuming your tv and eyes are good enough to see it). frankly 95% of people wouldn't know what good pics/sound was if it bit them in the ..... ;) |
