384487 2005-08-29 08:05:00 Hello folks, it is been some time since I last contributed a post. Anyway, I will go straight to the point. My mom just brought over a Nokia 3210 handphone to New Zealand. She wants to apply for a simcard from a wireless telecommunication service. She is a light handphone user and doesn't text nor call much. My question is: Which one, Vodafone or Telecom's package suits her scenario the best? I have no experience at all in terms of handphone, so I can only rely on you guys. Thank you very much.

Cheers :)

384488 2005-08-29 08:12:00 The 3210 is a GSM based phone, you have only one option...Vodafone. The two cellphone networks in NZ operate using competing standards. If you wished to use Telecom as your service provider you would need a phone based on the CDMA technology. Sb0h (3744)
384489 2005-08-29 08:37:00 Vodafone.

Oops, sorry. The model number is 3310. Still, I don't think there is much difference between those two. Anyway, what is CDMA?

Cheers :)

384493 2005-08-29 12:50:00 CDMA = Code Divisional Multiple Access....

I never get why they call the "evolution" from GSM "WCDMA" though.....

384496 2005-08-29 21:23:00 If it takes a sim card, its for vodafones network. I think you could use an 029 (telstra) instead of an 021(vodafone) :D personthingy (1670)
