Their website is not terribly informative but from what I can tell, its a direct connection. It doesn't use an ADSL modem with the username/password arrangement to connect.
A tech comes round and installs an ethernet port in your wall. You then plug the PC directly to it.
Unfortunately the poor guy who rang me had spent days trying to get his old ADSL 4 port to connect as he has 2 PCs he wanted to share the internet connection.
These guys told him his problem was he needed a "broadband router" not an "adsl router". From what I can gather he needs a network.

To share the connection, a broadband router will get given the public IP address, and then providing routing services to the machines behind it.

Something like this (www.ascent.co.nz) or an old PC running IPCop or similar.

I was thinking of networking the 2 PCs - with his main one having the connection. As opposed to 2 PCs not networked together sharing the modem.
But anyway...
