Personally, every time I consider the value of Sky it falls far short of my expectations. I don't see this ramping up demands for Sky. I don't worry about the recording another channel because sooner or later the program you miss is on yet again. In fact endlessly. And now Sky has ads, I sometimes wonder why I bother. Well at least until I view one of the offerings on TV2 or something and then I remember.... Or should that be offalings... |

I know I am naive, but I was still shocked when we got Sky a few months ago to see how many ads there are. Even the endless repetition of unnecessary programme promos on channels like History is a pain in the proverbial. At least Rialto movies aren't interrupted. I guess I naively thought that as I was paying for the damned thing I wouldn't have commercials! Duh! As if that applies to newspapers and magazines... How thick I am sometimes. |

Cost is $599. $100 off that for current sky subscribers & you have the choice to keep the current skybox. Pauline. No choice. From DomPost paper this morning it appears that $100 off offer only applies if you keep original decoder as well and pay extra $25 per month. I wonder how much slower any new menu system will be on the old decoders. |

Sure you end up with two tuners and an integrated EPG but the decoder doesn't do anything more than a regular DVD recorder with a HDD, in fact it does less because it can't burn DVDs, so you would need to buy a DVD recorder as well... | maccrazy (6741) | ||
| 385222 | 2005-10-07 20:34:00 | I've just ordered this, and was told they are actually starting to roll them out beginning early November. I guess this may be due to demand, people will want it before Xmas holidays, and if rollout started 5 Dec there might not be time for all the installers to get to everyone. Apart from comments above, two of my main reasons for getting it are 1, It will be a lot easier for my wife to program. Currently she hates programming the VCR, so I always have to do it ... so get the blame if I muck something up ;) We were in UK on holiday with someone who had Sky+ which is the same sort of thing, and they were elderly people who programmed it with ease. 2, The RGB output will look great on the new projector I've just bought! |
