.Excellent link, and like most good things so obvious i wondered why i didn't think of it!

I liked this bit best:

"Linux just isn't user-friendly when it comes to viruses. You have to work to find and run them. It doesn't happen automatically as it does with Windows. "

Most of the other links seemed to be either discussions pointing out how Linux viri is more of a concept than a reality.

Yet another reason to give a n00b a linux box, running a MODERN linux, and say go for it! So long as they don't want talking monkeys and games they'd be better off!

1357355 2005-09-03 11:14:00 A strongly pro Linux articles being used to promote windows - now I've seen everything. I currently have a crashed Windows system and can only access the contents with a Knoppix CD - I'm coming to the view that Knoppix is a life saver. Twelvevolts (5457)
1357356 2005-09-04 22:02:00 Thats coming in Linux XP. And seriously, this is one worry i have with Linux development... It seems that some Linux developers, rather than learning from the mistakes of others and observing what not to do, are following in windows footsteps....

When i see Wine get developed to the point that installations are truly automatic, or user additions/alterations at system level no longer require at least root password, we will have lost a great advantage we have. In the name of "short term ease of use" security may well be compromised!
