| 667917 | 2008-05-10 06:19:00 | Yesterday Hotmail, today comcast . It appears that another large ISP are rejecting email from Ihug users . The following message to <#####@comcast . net> was undeliverable . The reason for the problem: 5 . 4 . 7 - Delivery expired (message too old) 554-'IMTA08 . emeryville . ca . mail . comcast . net comcast 203 . 109 . 136 . 9 Comcast BL004 Blocked for spam . Please see . comcast . net/help/faq/index . jsp?faq=SecurityMail_Policy18628'" target="_blank">www . comcast . net Reporting-MTA: dns; akl-grafton-ironport1 . ihug . net Content-Type: text/plain; x-avg-checked=avg-ok-E133EEA Final-Recipient: rfc822;#####@comcast . net Action: failed Status: 5 . 0 . 0 (permanent failure) Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5 . 4 . 7 - Delivery expired (message too old) 554-'IMTA08 . emeryville . ca . mail . comcast . net comcast 203 . 109 . 136 . 9 Comcast BL004 Blocked for spam . Please see . comcast . net/help/faq/index . jsp?faq=SecurityMail_Policy18628'" target="_blank">www . comcast . net (delivery attempts: 0) The link in the bounce-back message from comcast explains the issue very clearly: Mail to Comcast is rejected and is returned with an error message containing the code BL004 . What does this mean? Our filters have determined that email from your mail server has been sent in patterns which are characteristic of spam . In an effort to protect subscribers, your mail server has been blocked from sending email to the Comcast network . Mail servers are typically shared by many users so it may be the case that another party using your mail server has sent spam, even if you have not . How do I get my IP removed from the blocklist? It is important that your email administrator is aware of their outbound spam problem to avoid being blocked by Comcast in the future . When contacting your email administrator, you should include the error message contained in the email which alerted you to this problem . This error message contains important information to help your email administrator resolve this issue . Removal requests can be sent to www . comcastsupport . com/rbl and will require the IP address of the blocked mail server . Requests submitted through this form are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure a timely response . Today I sent the 29th report (in the last 6 months) of this kind of issue to IHUG so that they ARE aware of the problem . I am not hopeful however that they will resolve the problem by contacting Comcast - their track record indicates that they simply don't care . Long-term the only viable solution is for IHUG to clean up their act and deny spammers access to their network . |

| 667918 | 2008-05-10 22:24:00 | Just as a trial, have you tryed sending the email from say Gmail. It may be the content thats been spam listed (signature maybe?) and therefore rejected Just from my limited knowledge, I know that emails get listed on strings of characters (just like virii get listed by anti virus companies) Just an idea |

| 667919 | 2008-05-11 01:39:00 | Yes, I can send identical emails to these recipients from gmail for example. That shows the problem is with Ihug's servers. No, I don't use a signature. I accept that this can happen occasionally with any ISP. When it has been an ongoing problem for many months, and involves many receiving ISPs, then it is indicative of failed systems, lack of clear policy and follow-up, deliberate non-communication, and indifferent and arrogant attitudes towards paying customers.:yuck: |
