385338 2005-09-02 11:29:00 Canterbury District Health Board says it's Ravensdown's cooling tower at Hornby.
Ravensdown is disputing that.

385340 2005-09-02 12:31:00 I don't know much more to tell.
There was a mention on TV1's 6pm News.
There's a longer version on their website.
Google for it.

385341 2005-09-03 02:07:00 I don't think that this is like the hyped up "bioterrorism" which gets everyones knickers twisted.

This disease seems to be caught by people who spend time in a building where the airconditioning system circulates the little buggies which it nurtures in the cooling system.

Testing has found some of the organism in the fertiliser company's system. If it's serious, it's a possible danger to their employees . Have any of them caught this thing, or died of it? If not, where is the danger to other people?
Do the twenty or so people infected have any common factors?

I'd be looking at the airconditioning systems of malls, hospitals, hotels, and other places where lots of people congregate.

Ravensdown handed over their test results. I suspect a mall management would quietly lose any embarrasing results.

385342 2005-09-03 06:11:00 But when its in the cooling towers, it affects the surrounding areas with the water misting from the towers . Not just the inhabitants of the building .

In fact being inside the building with an infected cooling tower system could be safer that being just outside it?

I haven't seen any legionaires as yet?

385344 2005-09-04 02:39:00 The map of the "clusters" shows none anywhere near Hornby. There are 35 cooling towers in the area of the "most significant cluster", according to the MOH.

The answer might be blowing in the wind, but I don't think Ravensdown are the culprits.
