384933 2005-08-31 05:13:00 FPS gamers rejoice/get ready to upgrade!

I have played through the demo of this quite a few times - excellent graphics, physics and sound. The game is heavily system intensive - both CPU/RAM and VPU get a good thrash...

It's got some jumps but nowhere near as terrifying as Doom3 at this stage... but it is only a demo :)

I think on final release this game will put the likes of HL2 and Doom3 to shame - play the demo and you'll know what I'm talking about...

It's due out around mid October.

Demo download is around 660MB - 56k beware! :)

384934 2005-09-01 10:46:00 What system specs would you recommend to play this game well. memphis (2869)
384935 2005-09-01 11:22:00 In order to play the game at the recommended resolution, detail and
performance levels, your computer should meet or exceed the following
specifications:

US version of Windows(R) XP with the latest service pack installed
Pentium(R) 4 3.0 GHz or equivalent
2GB of RAM
256MB DirectX(R) 9.0 video card with pixel shader 2.0 suppor

Like I said - very system intensive - It's playable with low end hardware though - lots of scaling options. I think minimum specs was:

P4 1.7GHz, 512MB, 64MB DX8.1 video card... low quality looks really bad though...

Give it a go - it would be interesting to get some feedback on performance from a wide range of systems...

384937 2005-09-01 11:27:00 Yeah it's gonna be awesome... now I just need some $$$ for upgrades...

PS. Screenshots do not do the game justice - trust me - particle effects are amazing :) :)

That would like max out a computer of today for most people and spending so much on upgrades to play the game well, plus buying the game would work out to be very expensive to play one game.

Mind you all your other games of lower specs would play great. :D

Or buy it when its in the bargin bin and by then I may have had to upgrade because of other games and things as well.

I might just not buy that game and save a heck of a lot of money instead.

I have to live and thus pay for things that demand more from me like petrol.....

384941 2005-09-02 11:04:00 Yeah seems to be a bit ahead of its time but I guess its a "next gen" title and like I said it plays good enough for me (on mid range system) with medium settings (+AA) and still looks amazing...

I predict the upcoming STALKER will probably have similar requirements...

Hard life for PC gamers that's for sure

384942 2005-09-02 12:02:00 I must save some money for my computer x 2000 lines. ;)

I must get STALKER x 10,000 lines.

I must live and pay bills x 100,000 lines. :dogeye:

Yes a gamers life is a hard life, but its a good life!!!
