2016-09-20 09:07:00 | If there is one thing that riles me its being called a Liar and a Cheat . Your problem pcteck has been experienced by myself and a zillion others, as the Internet will testify . You may have noticed that there is a thread whereby Im trying to get Linux up and running . Linux is running fine and I like it, but it takes a bit of learning, but then, so too did Win8 if anybody could be bothered . As you will see from the thread I mentioned, I havent even bothered to inquire about duel booting and the like because once Im organised, Microsoft is gone forever . :clap

2016-09-20 09:47:00 | Windows only deactivates for a couple of reasons. 1. Software Corruption (most common cause) 2. Pirated / illegal keys. The interesting comment after he installed SP1 SP1 for what ? The last SP1 for a OS was Windows 7, so if the OS is that far out of date wouldn't be at all surprised if theres some sort of corruption. B.M's Comment: If there is one thing that riles me its being called a Liar and a Cheat. Which goes back to point 1. NO operating system will work 100% of the time or get corrupted. So B.M when your new love of Linux all turns upside down, hope the couple of people helping currently will be about ;) The number of people who have some sort of illegal licensing and swear its legit is quite high. Its easy to catch them out and prove its illegal /pirated. One job I mentioned in other posts, the guy had Pirated copies of Office, swears it was all Legit, and said I was wrong - so I proved it was pirated - lets just say he was  when he got caught out and his wife who was there was none to happy.

2016-09-20 10:04:00 | Service Packs introduced more blacklisted keys, you got proof he is the licensee? Microsoft can be understanding if you prove it and they will issue you with a new key or a discounted price for a new one.

Just adding to that -- What most people don't know is on the COA stickers are several other codes that Microsoft can cross reference to prove its a Genuine or not Genuine key. They can also tell if its been activated more than the license allows Eg: more than 1 machine if a single user license. Had to do that several years ago (OS Was XP), for some reason some sets of keys were blacklisted, (which I never found out completely - but the MS rep did say something along the lines of - those ones, yep can sort it) providing the other codes the guy at MS asked for proved they were genuine. |

2016-09-20 18:45:00 | So B . M when your new love of Linux all turns upside down, hope the couple of people helping currently will be about ;) So do I, :D but at the moment Linux is the lesser of the two evils . Just a point of interest, on the Win 7 machine, which Microsoft now claims to have an illegal key, the key reported by Windows and the Key reported by Speccy are totally different . How does that work?
