No Can do sorry, that was close to a year ago, on linux forums I usually never visit ( cant even remember the sites, only have the word Linux in them), didn't use the same user name as here, and chances of finding those posts would be next to zero. It was for a customers Linux Server, not mine.

1426239 2016-09-21 21:54:00 Didn't stop me, I found Kodi is better anyway ;)

Thanks for the Heads Up on that pcuser, I'd never heard of Kodi.

I must try it with Linux on a Hauppauge Card. TVWin that came with the card was hopeless, but Media Center worked fine, hence me wanting to keep it.

I guess it's par for the course with Microsoft. They have something that works so it's important to kill it off or replace it with rubbish.

The downhill slide from Win7 being another example. :groan:

1426240 2016-09-21 22:03:00 Kodi works well, as I mentioned dumped media center installed Kodi, had no problems with any hardware. BTW they make a standalone version that is Linux based, on its own works well, its not a separate program. Tried it once but the problem was actual Linux Base was so unpredictable / unstable if trying to open anything to change settings it wasn't worth it. Maybe it was still in beta ;) It still had the Linux PITA of wanting a password to change anything wainuitech (129)
1426241 2016-09-21 22:21:00 Kodi was once known as XBMC which was around for ages, remember this well as I had XP taken out by a trojan with XBMC

1426242 2016-09-22 00:58:00 Not that big of a deal, it avoids blaming the user - and for average Joe, it likely isn't the user's fault anyway. :)

Grammatically speaking, it is 100% the opposite of the original poster's intention, and has nothing to do with avoiding blame.

There is no way that it can be interpreted as a pacifier for MS users; words mean what they say, and in fact, there is a further error in punctuation:

The correct statement would be: Windows may not be genuine, your computer could be running a counterfeit copy of Windows.
Regardless, 'Windows is not genuine' is a definitive and warning statement from Microsoft that precedes the mention of counterfeit.

It may not matter to the knowledgeable, but the mildly bewildered could very easily take it to mean that their counterfeit version is legit, or their legit version is counterfeit.

2/10 Microsoft, you must try harder!

Cheers

1426243 2016-09-22 05:23:00 What the bet that the free upgrade will end when this comes along for Windows 7

www.neowin.net Well just did another.

Microsoft have lost the plot LOL.

Had to install the earlier version first 10586 - Activated, then upgraded to 1607. The license key CLEARLY on the side of the case is W7 Home, after upgrading to 1607, its now changed to Pro and activated.

What a bugger :p

1426244 2016-09-22 06:58:00 Good to know as far as any Tech is concerned, looks like they want as many as possible on Windows 10 which to me is a pretty good product

Little concerned with their updates as they cripple some systems, hard being in business when the sh-t hits the fan
