1426691 2016-09-30 22:43:00 Downloaded the update which is a .psf file how the hell do I install it as double clicking just asks what program I wan to open it with. ??? .psf

Don't know what you have downloaded but it doesn't sound like its the correct file. They should be .cab files.
Edited: just looked it up, .psf are related to Adobe programs.

Some working links are winaero.com
Scroll down the page to the links and select your flavour. :)

To install Correctly you need to do it Via a Command Prompt. Right under the Links is another telling you how. Look for the .cab instructions. During a normal update it does this automatically.

NOTE: it pays to right click the cab file/Properties, and copy then paste into the CMD name out so there's no mistakes.

Mines on a USB, drive J , so the command would be

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"J:"windows10.0-kb3194496-x64_2cacef6b46462af81dd957d5b883f32665aad56e.cab"

Doing a manual update since I have several to do. No point in bringing through 700 odd MB several times.

1426692 2016-09-30 22:58:00 Windows10 update build 222 I downloaded this morning, no trouble, didn't time it, but around 15 minutes or less.

All the updates I've had are fast, I wonder why some computers take hours???

And that is why the masses won't change.

I hate command line, if linux could do everything by Gui I would probably switch most of our computers over until then it ain't happening:devil

1426694 2016-09-30 23:33:00 I personally quite like doing command Prompt work in Windows, only because I know it way better than in Linux (different commands of course).

These days its all to easy to click this click that. Its quite funny how sometimes at a customers places I open a CMD box and start typing out various commands, the longer dism ones really get them - Its almost as if it  Whats that - What are you doing.

Then when you explain your are telling the computer how to do a certain task, its :waughh: LOL

One that gets them every time

dism /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth / Source:Wim:E:\Sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

If you actually look at the commands one step at a time though its all really simple as to what you are telling the computer to do. ;)

ADSL2 old copper, need I say more. We have no choice as nothing else is available and we are not on the map to get any upgrades despite being in a fast growing area slated to get another 300 houses soon

What connection do you have

Yep I have no interest in CMD. I have yet to feel the need to resort to using it. Update came through late this morning and is now installed

Just adsl2, 14259kbs sync speed, but it can't be the connection speed that makes some computers take hours or even days to download an update, there is something crazy going on.

1426698 2016-09-30 23:44:00 Soooo glad I didn't let 10 intrude into my comp

7 still just works... without having to do all those things that "only take a minute or 2"

Or worry about MS using me as peer to peer data transfers

1426699 2016-09-30 23:45:00 The update came through this am on my daughter's computer though quite slowly (but they are still on ADSL). No problems with the install. I checked both her PC and my laptop for the issue in the article cited by BM and found that the recommended settings were already there on both computers - it makes me wonder whether the OFF setting is default, given that I am sure I never turned it off on my laptop, and my daughter's PC is so new it has hardly been used and I doubt she or my son in law would have made that change themselves - usually they use a computer the way it came out of the box. 1426700 2016-10-01 03:15:00 Here's one for the records, after this update Ccleaner is completely missing, not a sign of it anywhere.

Reinstalled it and back to normal but wtf?
