I have often wondered why members choose the name that they do when they sign up. After your confession as above the bells began to ring :)

1101 could be expressed as.... 1 = hair, 1 = hair, 0 = bald spot, and 1 = hair

How is that for a theory?

1423954 2016-08-03 07:30:00 Wearing them back to front can actually stop you getting a sunburn on the back of your neck.

But at the expense of a red snoozer :lol:

1423955 2016-08-03 08:23:00 My reply may be seen as very politically incorrect, but as I see it, there is a very definite 'culture' to baseball caps. Some would argue a 'sub-culture'.

Why do so many people wear them, and wear them backwards?

Monkey see, monkey do.

I've never met anyone of substantial intellect wearing a baseball cap.

I'll stop there before I get into deeper water.

1423956 2016-08-03 08:25:00 Actually, I'll add another thought...

Who is more likely to wear a baseball cap?

A Trump supporter?

Or a Hillary supporter?

The answer says plenty.

1423957 2016-08-03 10:36:00 How about if you need to wear earmuffs when operating machinery ie. Driving a tractor. A baseball cap works just fine for that. CliveM (6007)
1423958 2016-08-03 19:52:00 Why buy nice $100 shoes, $20 gumboots do a much better job.
Why buy expensive shirts when a $10 t-shirt does the same thing

Actually nice $30 shoes are fine. Are they so special because they are $100?

Tshirts and shirts are not the same thing.....or blouses and tshirts for that matter. I don't like tshirts and never wear them.

1423959 2016-08-03 20:38:00 $30 vs $100 shoes - if you are buying for durability rather than fashion, the price can make a big difference. I have a couple of pairs of expensive (more than $100) shoes that I have had for years and they are still perfectly good looking and serviceable and comfortable. I would not expect to be able to say the same about $30 shoes. I wouldn't be buying $100 jandals though.

The protective qualities of baseball caps can be questionable. A few months ago I saw a completely bald man who had obviously been wearing a baseball cap out in the sun. He had a perfect half-moon of red at the back of his head, presumably from the gap for the adjusting strap.

Ive had $30 leather shoes that lasted as long as my $150+ shoes .
Cheap leather shoes can last (most dont though) . The issue I found is with shoes that are glued, not stitched . The glue doesnt last .
I go for stitched shoes now, but even they are only good for a year. While it will still do its job,as a shoe, after a year or so the leather upper is starting to look not as nice as a business shoe needs to
$30 sneakers do last years ,they dont fall apart . Ive some $30 sneakers 15 years old.

A cap isnt a safety protective , 100% UV body armour against UV . Its just silly to ridicule a cap because of that. It is better than no hat at all. It keeps the sun off my face .
Even with a stupid lookin wide brimmed hat, out in the sun all day I'll still get burnt .

But really, anti cap : its all about a grumpy old man rant....
look at those young people. Look at what they are wearing. Back in my day ....

or : I dont like the modern fashion/trends , so therefore they are stupid. Back in my day......

1423961 2016-08-03 22:31:00 Quite right Tony, I walk every day with a friend who buys $20-30 shoes to my $100+ shoes. I get 2 years with great comfort out of mine. He goes through around 4-5 pairs in that time and is always moaning about his feet hurting. 'nuff said!!!!

Ken :)

I wasn't actually ranting against baseball caps - just making an observation. Sorry if I touched a nerve.
