2016-09-22 22:30:00 | I tried to use Gmail on another PC yesterday . Gmail in all its wisdom blocked my login to my gmail a/c, as it was a PC I hadnt used before , at a different adress . What the very $$#^%& Password was correct, gmail just wouldnt let me in via that Win10 PC (I can get in this morning , on my work PC) Any way to stop this ?

2016-09-22 23:23:00 | For me it's always had the option to verify it's me one time and allow that PC from then on. A bit awkward if you need to receive a verification E-mail before you can read your E-mail... but I use my phone for Gmail anyway so I can always verify via that. | dugimodo (138) | |
2016-09-22 23:33:00 | The verification email was my work email address (offline at the time) As for verification questions, I usually put bogus info into that when setting up unless there is a real, absolute need for 3rd parties to have that info . The whole point of webmail is that you can access it anywhere. If it was being accessed via Russia I'd understand the block. This gmail a/c has a long history of being accessed from different PC's , its not like its the 1st time I accessed it out of office. I cant find anywhere in gmail to turn down this blocking function . The really strange thing, is it offered to verify by sending emails to other people email addres, addresses its just plucked out of the sent/received items security = zero. using random email adress for verify, the most stupid thing Ive ever come across given that verification stupidity, expect some data breeches in gmail. Just stupid .

2016-09-22 23:36:00 | I'm also losing faith in Gmail. It stopped me sending out a newsletter which I BCC to members of a group a while ago. And then about three days ago when I logged on to the gmail address for that same group, ALL the emails had completely vanished from the Inbox! ??? LL

I like to use an android app called pocket to store all my login and verification information, otherwise I'd end up using one password for everything. Security is a catch 22 type deal. the more secure you make something the more of a pain in the butt to use it becomes. The more convenient you make something the less secure it becomes (generally, I'm sure there are exceptions). This is annoying, but you'd be more upset if someone got into your E-mail account. |

2016-09-22 23:52:00 | True, but there is ZERO security when gmail offers to use random email adress's to verify ( I should have taken a screen shot of that) And , if you cant use webmail , easily , on other PC's , then thats security taken 1 step too far . If it saw someone guessing passwords then fine,or from another region, fine . But I had the correct login & pass . And I had accessed gmail from the location before, on other PC's . It was a buseness with static IP, so Im sure google had all that past login location history in its data collection.

2016-09-23 00:09:00 | Try this -- I had the same problem when using a different computer HERE, same address just different PC. its a little long winded buttttttttttt Open your mail, scroll down to the very bottom right hand corner, small writing - Click on "Details" On the window that opens - in Activity on this account Click "learn more" Box that opens, near the bottom is an option to turn off alerts. Don't know if it works or simply stops you completely ? Other wise to get alerts and still have access, from the first pop up window, click on "Recent Security events" / Secure your account -- you set the notifications to the phone number of your cell, then when entering at a different location you'll get a instant code to enter and allow access. Told ya its long winded :D more than likely a easier way but the above seems to work.

2016-09-23 00:45:00 | Thanks WT . Nothing of any value in this email a/c (its mostly just for testing & a 2nd temp email) , so I turned off notifications
