1423480 2016-07-22 00:47:00 Has anybody been to the Okoroire Hot Springs? I wonder if it is worth a visit. I have had a look on Google and all I can find is the Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel and it does not say anything about the hot springs. Is it easy to locate? I would be interested to hear from somebody that has been there for a swim. Thank you. Roscoe (6288)
1423481 2016-07-22 01:01:00 I went there once, in 1967. There were small private bathing pools, very basic and under cared for, but nice warm water. I believe they are much more developed now and better maintained.
The pub is definitely worth a visit, it had a nice outdoor garden area when I went there all those years ago. Our local 60s Up group is planning a visit there sometime soon.

1423483 2016-07-22 03:09:00 I used to live in the Area (Tirau) and went there a couple of times, had a nice meal at the restaurant as well. That was 20 years ago though :)
Several pools at various temperatures, not much different than soaking in a large slightly murky spa honestly but not bad. Judging by the link LL posted there's been quite a lot of work done since my last visit, looks a lot flasher.

There's a pub, restaurant, the hot pools, and a golf course. Also close to Tirau and Matamata if either of those interest you.

1423485 2016-07-22 11:08:00 It's a while since I've been there. I've seen it in various degrees of good and not so good. I suppose it depends on who is running it now.
The pub was good and have had a few really good meals there.
Your GPS or Google maps will get you there relatively easily, regardless of which route you take. Easy for me to say because I know the area. Some of the Auckland contingent, who drove down for a conference, did take a wrong turning or two but eventually made it. I suspect there may have been too much talking going on rather than keeping their eyes peeled for signposts.

1423486 2016-07-23 07:44:00 I use to holiday with relatives at nearby Te-Poi near an abandoned dairy factory. Been to Okoroire pub - not bad around 1979 -99. Kaimai ranges maybe worth a visit to collect spring water. Use to see people park at the top of summit roadside to walk to collect it. kahawai chaser (3545)
1423487 2016-07-25 09:08:00 Thanks everyone for your input. We were wondering if it was worth a visit. It seems as though it is so we shall call in on our next trip.

Your help is appreciated.
