For more information, see Help and Support Center at go.microsoft.com should i be concerned, as i think this drive is a slave drive. and what does it mean exactly? since i replaced the ide cables, and it hasnt shown up in the error logs today. Also hdd health programs say this drive is at 81% (whatever that means) cheers |

Theres also an atapi error i didnt see on drive 1, something about parity, clciking that link tells me the same thing. the cable is failing My disks are setup as follows Primary IDE Channel: 80GB HD (master) 200GB HD (slave) Secondary IDE Channel: Liteon DVD RW (master) 160GB HD (slave) soooo the controller error is on the 160GB, and the parity is on the 200GB? im thinking theres something seriously wrong, even though the drives work fine, and the SMART says its alright |

| 668870 | 2008-05-13 04:18:00 | That error "Event Source: Disk" usually means the Disk has lost contact with the rest of the PC. its usually either the cable, IDE header on the board, or as I have found out from experience more often the Drive is failing. Which ever it is get the data on the drive to another location before it possibly loses every thing. |

| 668873 | 2008-05-13 04:42:00 | nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! it cant be failing :mad: Yes it can, a Hard Drive can fail at ANY time. Hence the NEED for backups of stuff you cant afford to lose. I've got a Seagate 320G on RMA, waiting for its replacement - it failed after a week. I have had brand new drives fail while installing the OS, or last for years , and every thing in between. |

| 668874 | 2008-05-13 04:42:00 | its usually either IDE header on the board, or more often the Drive is failing. Run the manufacturers diagnostics on the drive, it should tell you if the drive itself has a problem. Probably it will be as wainuitech says. |

| 668875 | 2008-05-13 05:17:00 | 1st drive (the original system drive) tested as excellent condition (100%) 2nd drive (seagate 200GB) tested as good condition (81%) 3rd drive (seagate 160GB) tested as good condition (83%) the dramatic "nooooooooo" was not an attittude thing ha-ha I just cant live with under 120gb storage |
