Where do I find this either within PC World or on the net?

Thanks in anticipation

386813 2005-09-08 02:33:00 What I'd like is a CD containing the 9th and 10th editions of EB (produced between about 1880 and 1911). That's so much better than the modern editions. The trouble is it's 35 volumes, each with about 1500 pages. The book case holding it is making my floor sag. Graham L (2)
386814 2005-09-08 06:35:00 The Encyclopaedia Britannica Almanac 2005 is available on the CD that comes with that NZ PC World magazine as well as the serial number to register it. It takes about 150MB of hard drive space to install. :) Jen (38)
386815 2005-09-08 07:03:00 Dear Graham...........

I don't think you need that old EB, unless you are romantic enought to want to relive your childhood LOLOLOL

They have harnesed fire now, and it looks promising as a way to keep the sabertooth tigers outta your cave and from carrying off your wife and children.

There is an interesting article on page MCMDXVII about how it's a good thing to let the corners wear off the square wagon wheels. Makes for a much smoother ride.

Incidentally, what is the Almanac, as opposed to the Encyclopedia itself?

386817 2005-09-08 09:49:00 Incidentally, what is the Almanac, as opposed to the Encyclopedia itself?Good question! According to Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org), Almanac is a book of tables and lists of information. Wee blurb here (corporate.britannica.com) about it on the Encyclopædia Britannica website. Jen (38)

386820 2005-09-08 13:52:00 I'm sure nobody is trying to patronise you.
Between Trevor & Jen you've been answered.
But to emphasise -
The CD comes with September's PC World magazine.
(I have it in my hand right now)
It says Encyclopedia Britannica ALMANAC 2005.
That's what you get a "free complete version" of.
Sorry if you think "that's not much help."
As for "reasons," everyone has some kind of reason for posting.
If yours are special, try explaining why - but don't expect your thread to be sacrosanct from jokes. Nobody gets that kind of protection here....junior, senior or dinosaur.
