I think one of my ancestors was a "Prince" in the 1600-1700's, however, I can't call myself a "Royal". Or more recently "Jew", and I don't think I can call myself one.

Please don't think I'm picking on you KiwiTT. You've raised a good question.

However if your grandfather was a Jew on the maternal side, you are entitled to consider yourself a Jew. The blood follows the maternal line. You may also identify as a Jew and be accepted as such if you choose.

386573 2005-09-07 11:28:00 For me, (A fifth generation Kiwi) and brought up in Kiwi schools I never had a problem with Maori at that time. I will say that the Maori in the school at that time in Wanganui were not allowed to speak the Maori language. We in the school were taught times tables which I did not learn too well at that time. I did manage to learn English though which is how I learned to spell. Added to that my Parents whom are both longer with me encouraged me to read books and also another Wanganui teacher taught me about Gilbert and Sullivan and other classical music.

Later on at Rongotai College in Wellington I learned that if you fired a shangai at the teacher with a chalk missile there was a fair chance you will get the strap or cane. It should carry on today.

Further on I went to Wellington Tech and managed 29% for maths, 87% for english, 92% for physics, 95% for chemistry, 68% for history and 72% for geography.

It really can not be denied that the majority of prisoners in prisons ( of course ) are darker in skin colour than being white european.

This may be because the Maori may be more honest and own up when caught as opposed to the european who may be able to afford a good lawyer.

I have had Maori people in my house and will have the same people back. There are some white people I have met whom I would not have in my house.

I would refer you all to a book I have here which is entitled "Crime in New Zealand." witten in 1968. The Hon J.R. Hanan was the Minister of Justice at that time. Just rereading it things have not changed too much other than different drugs are now available and one in particular is even encouraged by one political party.

In fact Michael Moore took a former Jewish slave worker along to BMW to see if they would finally pay him. They looked a little sick.

OK. I happen to a fifth generation Kiwi.
Should I go back to my Potato farm if I'm Irish or back to my Scot castle or what. Yep. Pop back and say you lot owe me something. Yeah right!!!

In my case I was born here and I just get on with life.
And so should everyone else!

Look forward rather than back. Just my idea.
