386939 2005-09-08 22:13:00 Hmmmmm . . . . . . . . .

Seems we have a minor problem here .

The article was written for the benefit of that proportion of the populace who can lay claim to an attention span slightly longer than that of a newt . :groan:

About 5 minutes is all it takes .

The beginning (italicised) is a fairly accurate prophesy that unfortunately came true, and the rest is the historical backgound that underpins the present disaster .

I posted it for information, not entertainment, so if understanding the causes of ecological disaster is not your thing, don't waste time reading it . Skip to the end and read the comments instead .

That's where the real entertainment lies .

386940 2005-09-09 04:45:00 Should have just linked to source (www3.nationalgeographic.com), quoting excerpts and date. It's no secret that this was bound to happen. I was watching a LOU campaign vid (tf.pcriot.com) from last year, worth a quick watch if your on broadband. sal (67)

Would have, had it arrived as such sal, but I received it as a document and didn't feel like spending the time to track it back to source .

There is no real problem with posting it in full anyway . Those who wish to can read it, and those who don't can criticise .

That way everybody is happy .

386947 2005-09-09 16:21:00 I think Burt Reynolds, (famous American philosopher, actor in "Smokie And The Bandit", star of both the big and little screen, method thespian and all-around good-guy beer drinking pitch man) could have condensed the whole quotation.

I will never forget his statement on the actual essence of life in a summation while he was scratching the ear of his Blue Tick hunting dog while simultaneously nuzzling Loni Anderson's earlobe:

"Life's tough.............then you die"

He later divorced Loni.
