They try to foist their ill-concieved options and ideals with the Democrat party anyway . . ergo my utter dislike for social reformists, history re-writing and short memories and the village mentality . As a part of the checks-and-balances of popular opinion, they are the loudest and squeakiest rusty wheels and tend to get the most press . Did you know that Ronald Reagen consulted fortune tellers and Oui-Jah boards for strategies . . . like Adolph Hitler did during WW-II? Photogenia and public opinion polls are not legislative integrity . I don't think Madonna or J-Lo have much on the ball as world leaders anyway, or not as much as they think they have either . It looks like Hillary will be at the pillary (the presidency), as she is being groomed for it after he adulterous husband only 1/2 sullied the White House . She will do the rest . But, I digressed too much there methinks . |

There is a sort of liberal cult in the world that requires it's adherents to damn anything Americans do . George Bush is Satan on wheels, and every one of your business people are out to enslave the third world . Basically it is envy . The United States is the most powerful nation on Earth, economically and militarily . So its an easy target for criticism . And when a disaster such as Hurricane Katrina strikes, there is a certain miserable satisfaction for some people to see the behemoth stumble . However most Kiwis are warmly disposed towards Americans and we sympathise at times like this . Really? "Most" people I've met hate them! And why not, they start wars for no reason, are racist, are the only country to have used a WMD (GWB lingo is catchy!), pollute the most, kill each other the most, make the most arrogant and annoying tourists . . . . . . . just to mention a few . Oh and as for Katrina, aint Karma a bi*ch? Seriously though SurferJoe, no offence intended, we only hate "most" of you . Veale |

In the case of a nation as diverse as America we will find all sorts, not just the stereotypical loadmouth tourist type. One can find the best and worst in American society. That is a human factor. As I said "no offence intended" meaning I dont mean to personally offend Joe. I stated six facts regarding America. They are all true and based on this I stated I hated america because of these. If you would like me to dress it up in a pretty flowers for you I would have said: They involuntarily become involved in overseas wars, are multicultural (must've been the native indians that had negro slaves), are the only country to have accidently dropped a nuke (but hey, accidents do happen)pollute the least (thank god they enforce the Kyoto protocol) , have the lowest murder rate (again, thank god guns are illegal in the US), make the most polite and well-mannered tourists (pains me to write this).......just to mention a few. But we all know the real truth and based on this I stated my opinion regarding most americans (most implies majority, not all) Veale P.S Out of interest Joe, did you happen to find my comments offensive? |

Every thing you said could be applied to every race, country and culture except the nuke/WMD comment, and the only reason that America is the only country to use a WMD, is that they won (won?) the race to be the first to develop them. Many of Americas glaring "faults" are obvious only because of scale. We produce more trash/person than the Americans, but as there's so few of us, its less noticable. While the medea version of American culture annoys me, i'm totally aware that all other cultures media represent themselves with equal "superiority" and arrogence. The only difference is that as the largest western nation, USA can pull it off! |

America got in first . Had they not have it was inevitable they would have had one used on them . I shall not debate the justification of tactics, but i will argue that America was not alone in the developmental stages of WMDs . Every major power at the time of that war was trying to be the first, and to win the world domination game through a show of ultimate power . In short, the whole human race sux, if we focus on the negative equally . However Americas size allows it to be easily targeted for such attention . |
