386126 2005-09-05 03:56:00 I am both glad and amazed that anyone has gotten ME to run at all...even slightly well anyway.

ME is a RAM hog..it has trouble walking and chewing at the same time..I never met a system I didn't like..then I met ME!

I hated when ME stopped what it was doing to take a keyboard command and just think about it for a while. I dumped it...but if it floats your boat.....

I have a legal and licensed copy of ME that i so far have forgotten to try to fling like a frisbee...now that I remember..ME and I have a date with it's destiny.. splattered all over the Interstate 60 freeway.

(picture of a man giving blessing to his PC with ME----):badpc:

386127 2005-09-05 03:58:00 A Microsoft spokesperson has said that Vista will run best with a video card with 256MB+ ram, a SATA2 drive, and around 2GB DDR rams worth of memory. Of course it will run on lesser hardware, but the benchmark for the best environment makes one wonder how much lesser can you get?

How much do 256MB vid cards, SATA2 drives and 2GB DDR ram go for nowadays?

man........this whole thing MUST be a scam.....perhaps ms have secret shares in the hardware mfgs businesses........this is ridiuclous.......you need all that hardware just to run an OS ??

crazy.........nutty.......mad.........i'll stay away from installing it on any of my 'personal' machines for sure.......

Not exactly - if you read the entire thing. Note the part about laptops....
And in any case why fret? I only just installed XP this year. For the first time ever. There is no NEED to rush out and get a new O/S you know. In fact I had a customer the other day with Win95 on his PC. Using it for net, WP and NZAGold quite happily. Geez - anyone would think you all were being forced to use it.

386129 2005-09-05 04:36:00 forced ?.......in a way.......as i'm a tech I'll need to install it on something so that I can play with it and work out its idiosyncrasies etc.......ins'n'outs y'know........dammit........ drcspy (146)
386130 2005-09-05 07:02:00 Don't forget Windows Vista is slotted for release in late 2006? Hardware is getting better/bigger/faster all the time so you would imagine having that sort of hardware might be more standard in desktop machine being produced around that time. What you pay now for that sort of hardware will be quite different in a years time. :) Jen (38)

386133 2005-09-05 10:05:00 It's all a lot of overkill. Windows for Work Groups 3.11 and Internet Explorer 3.03 should be enough for anyone ! :)

I mean to say, simple surfing, Foxmail 1.6 for emails, Write for writing letters.

Pentium 200MHz MMX. 128MB RAM, 640MB HDD, ample, look here:

386134 2005-09-05 10:14:00 Since in my opinion, Vista is just gonna wind up being SP-99 for Windows XP anyway, I say wait for Google to present it's OPSYS . I bet it is even free for a while too . . . especially in the Beta version which will probably work better than any full release of M$ anyway .

Won't THAT frost ol' Bill's bonnet?
So what is the word with Google O/S?
Are we about to see the end of Bills strangle hold?
