385431 2005-09-04 03:21:00 You can also get streaming P2P TV. Works a bit like Bittorrent where you upload a bit and download at the same time. I don't have Sky, and if I want to watch some rugby match, I can find it on these Tv cahnnels that are streamed, e.g. Star Sports covers rugby.

Anyway heres the channels and the different applications:

1) SOPCAST - www.sopcast.org

BBC World News
channel-[V] Music
Cinemax
ESPN
National Geographic
SportItalia
Star Sports

2) CoolStreaming - www.coolstreaming.org

ESPN
HBO
CHANNELV
Plus other asian channels

3) PPLIVE - www3.pplive.com

ESPN
National geographic
24 Hour Movie channels
Msuic Channels
Plus alot of asian channels (good ones include, hong kong movies which are subtitled)

Basics
- the more people watching, the better the quality. That's why the quality can suffer at the end of games when people start to leave.
- the pattern usually is buffering -> sound only -> sound and still picture -> sound and bad moving picture -> sound and smooth moving picture. In general, it takes about 5-10 mins to 'warm up', so connect to the stream before the game/movie etc.
- also forget about this if you on anything less than 256k

385432 2005-09-04 05:37:00 Look what happens. :waughh: I go away for a day and my home gets trashed - metaphorically speaking. Funnily enough I've been discussing genetics, principally of Celtic people which are the foundation stock of Southlanders. Quite unique - but you knew that anyway GF. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I'll have to learn about torrent. Much appreciated.

385433 2005-09-04 07:53:00 Why is it that the police are not catching everybody who uses P2P files? I suppose they are able to detect the IP of every P2P users? And they are able to determine the exact location based on their respective, don't they?

Cheers :)
