386029 2005-09-05 00:38:00 So much for all the complaining about Telecom and the bushytailed supporters of wireless communication. Vodaphone have just turned down their right to take 20% of Woosh, at a cost of $30 million. Clearly they can't see money in it.

And TelstraClear continues to lose money in NZ despite being a giant company compared with Telecom.

The point is, modern telecommunications comes at a price. Particularly in a mountainous country with a small population.

Maybe TC knows something about Woosh that we don't . . .

386031 2005-09-06 02:43:00 It could be that Vodaphone prefer to stick to the mobile telephone business. It's like having a licence to print money. Graham L (2)
386032 2005-09-06 03:23:00 Telecom seem to be doing fairly well despite NZ being mountainous with a small population, $1 billion annual profit www.computerworld.co.nz
As far as I can see monopoly economics and the concomitant lack of competition or difficulty of competing against such a large monoploy are dictating the cost of communications in this country. Telecom need to be reigned in and give this country a chance!
