2008-05-15 03:29:00 | I had 2003 installed but when I installed 2007 I lost 2003. Can I reinstall 2003 without losing 2007? Any help would be appreciated. Pat.

2008-05-15 03:52:00 | I believe you can, just make sure you install it to a different directory. Eg, create a program files folder called office2003 and install to there. And the Outlook thing.|||

2008-05-15 03:57:00 | Yes you can have both - the only product you cant have is two Outlooks, you either have Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007. | wainuitech (129) | |
2008-05-15 04:50:00 | Thanks very much wratterus and wainuitech for your very helpful and prompt replies. So fast indeed you must have been waiting for me to pen my problem. I shall create a folder 'Office 2003' under 'Program Files' and reinstall 2003 there. Thanks for the Outlook caution. I don't use Outlook so shall leave it under 2007. God bless, Pat.

And the Outlook thing.||| you can have office 2003 in the 'microsoft office' folder as it creates a folder called 'office11' for 2003 and 'office12' for 2007 installing it sepreatly from the 'microsoft office' folder has the advanatage of playing it safe ive got both versions installed in my 'microsoft office' folder, both work together without any problems outlook is a trickily one as you can only have one version, personly I would use 2007, thats if I used outlook |

2008-05-15 20:44:00 | Wouldn't it be easier to set the 2007 version to save as 1997-2003 files? | the_bogan (9949) | |
2008-05-16 01:01:00 | very true, install the file format support add-on for office 2003, then it will be able to read office 2007 file formats the add-on is available to download on the microsoft office website and often on the PC World DVD I meant, for example if you have a .doc file, it can only be associated by default to one program. You can't associate it to both versions of word at once - and both versions would probably start competing with each other on which should be the default program to open it with.
