669178 2008-05-13 22:10:00 Has anyone experianced AVG8 using dialup.
Appears to not activate dialup sequence when programed, so therefore never reachs sever to update.

If you manually go to webpage, then click update button ,it will update,
this appears to be the only way to do it. NO AUTOMATIC UPDATES WILL WORK.

AVG7.5 worked OK.

669179 2008-05-13 22:20:00 Possibly a bug for dial up auto updates or your firewall settings? I'm on dial up, and had issues even downloading AVG 8 (I think it was 45 MB), so downloaded Avast (about half the size) with no auto update issues. Even has a voice blaring out when auto updates are installed... kahawai chaser (3545)
669180 2008-05-14 01:14:00 Are you using Win 98? I think I have read a post here somewhere that says that Win 98 is not supported in AVG8. Try a search for AVG8 during the past week (or 2). Robin S_ (86)

669182 2008-05-14 03:28:00 Hi, Slim.
I'm having the same problem on XP SP2 with dial-up. I installed AVG 8 last night, but it did not auto-update at the programmed time (even though connection already established). I went in and checked the settings and manually updated (which confirmed that there was an update available). I'll be interested to see if anybody else has the same probblem and has a solution. Cheers.

Well I always tell my customers to dialup first, then click its update button.

669184 2008-05-14 03:47:00 Hi, pctek. that may be so, but mine won't hunt for an update at the alleged auto-seek time, even though connected at that time. Cheers. A Team (13613)
669185 2008-05-14 05:54:00 Lots are having problems updating on dialup links, I have tried everything suggested on the free forum but no go. I have now installed the trial version of the full system and still no go so on Sunday I lodged a fault call with grisoft support, no answer yet but will let you know if they come up with a fix jinja_thom (4306)
