388540 2005-09-15 10:09:00 Sorry to disappoint you - but at my advanced years the first time was a long time ago !!

However, today I downloaded "Abba Gold" on to my iPod and marvellous, I did not have to type in all the names. They magically appeared !

I have downloaded lots of stuff that you would not expect that to happen with - but there are amazing exceptions - Dire Straits - "Sultans of Swing" - I had to type in each track. Andrea Bocelli - "Sogno" - the same. Bob Dylan "John Wesley Harding" - had to type in every track - so why is Abba Gold different ???

Misty (mystified !!) :illogical

388542 2005-09-15 12:01:00 Abba Gold CD probably has CD Text encoded. The others don't
No mystery at all.
Its common on my MP3 player as well, those with CD Text encoding transfer the name the others dont - can't.

388543 2005-09-15 13:47:00 Also, if you ripped with iTunes (copied music from cd to your computer), as with most modern media players that rip cd's, while online the names of tracks will be retrieved automatically from an online database like cddb (www.gracenote.com). How convenient. sal (67)
