| 387241 | 2005-09-10 02:47:00 | An Australian Federal MP has proposed a permanent email address (www.abc.net.au) for every Australian. This is primarily so the government can contact you (presumably if you owe them money, as they never contact you if they owe you money), but since the proposed format is firstname.surname.dateofbirth at australia.org.au, so could anyone else who knows you. But alas, that format gives away far too much information about you, and spammers would welcome a new dawn in marketing opportunities. But if implemented properly in terms or privacy and spam protection, would it be a good idea? |

Even if every person in the world had access to email (still a small minority) it would give more scope for governmental cockups, and further diminish privacy. Perhaps it could be included in Longhorn. :D |
