669188 2008-05-16 22:00:00 Hi, pctek. that may be so, but mine won't hunt for an update at the alleged auto-seek time, even though connected at that time. Cheers.

I don't make the program, mostly I install Avast if the customer has not specified a preference.

Why not CLICK on the update button instead of waiting for it.

Or use another AV.

Update button does not activate the dialup sequence.

I have precisely the same problem. Would really appreciate an answer - suspect AVG will issue a service pack at some time.

This is a known problem with AVG 8
I suggest you stay with AVG 7.5 meantime, you will still be able to obtain updates for this until the end of the year.

669193 2008-05-28 00:57:00 AVG Technologies (new name for what used to be called Grisoft) have responded to my error report (see post 8 in this thread) and say that the Autodialup facility is not yet working in version 8 but they are working on it and will release it in a program update when ready.
The latest unofficial estimate is late June

If you are using the free version, I highly recommend dumping it and moving to Avast, it is way better.

And if you have the paid version, change to NOD32 when the time comes to renew, if you are happy with paying for AV software.

You will find that sentiment will be echoed by >70% of this forum.

Updates for 7.5 end 31st Dec 2008 not the end of May.

I said Free.

The paid version is continuing until the end of the year, as you said.

I probably should have added it's wise to stick with 7.5 if you have a paid version.

669197 2008-05-28 03:06:00 On the AVG Free support forum they're still saying that regardless of the pop up advising end of May, the support for AVG Free will continue until Dec '08. PaulD (232)
