387729 2005-09-12 19:59:00 I think unless you want it for games, new games, then there is no problem with buying it . It's probably ideal for word processing etc .

However be aware that we seem to get old tech dumped on us in NZ . And what you are purchasing IS old . Personally I would check out Dell, for similar prices you may get a faster machine .

Look at this . ap . dell . com/content/default . aspx?c=nz&l=en&s=dhs#" target="_blank">www1 . ap . dell . com

Oops, that machine still needs a monitor, so add another $200 on it .

Because they try to build the cheapest PC. It sounds good to the customer. I'm not that excited about that Dell either. Its always a mission to find out what board is in them, and specs of the ram etc.
ANy real PC shop could build a comparable system to that for the same price - and it would have more ram too.

387731 2005-09-12 21:36:00 ......... peopple going around calling their computer a CPU! Its a computer! The CPU is a chip inside the computer that does most of the work. Its the processor.Personally i like to call it my second brain. flaptop is certainly more reliable than the mush of meat that sits above my shoulders. personthingy (1670)

387733 2005-09-13 02:05:00 Yes, If I bought this computer I wouldn't want it for gaming, but would it give good image quality for looking at digital photos or videos? Or would I get better quality in this regard by paying for a more expensive computer?
Thanks

387734 2005-09-13 02:16:00 Image quality will be fine. Metla (12)

ThanksI'd be suprised if it had problems with watching video, but even if it did, adding a vid-card to replace the "Integrated Graphics" would soon fix this.

My only worry would be the 40GB HDD , but again, you could simply add a second drive of good size once you've got close to filling the 40GB drive up.

There's advantages in keeping system + personal stuff in a seperate location anyway, particually if you reformatt.

I wonder if its for sale without an OS?

387736 2005-09-13 02:31:00 It comes with Windows XP ssssss (2100)
387737 2005-09-13 02:57:00 For a bit of contrast, I sold near an exact spec machine yesterday for $720, though mine came with a dual layer DVD-Writer, XP patched up to todays (or yesterdays) state, and locked down with the required security tools, and topped off with Firefox.

Prime condition to hit the internet.

(personthingy, there are those of us happy to sell with no OS, not naming names or anything) :D

387738 2005-09-13 03:36:00 Whoops, The one I sold also had an 80GB 7200rpm Seagate HD . . . . .

Heh heh heh . . . Just noticed the DSE jobbie has a dvd writer as well, DOH!, anyway, spanky the spanker has to spank off to spank . . . .
