| 670637 | 2008-05-19 02:29:00 | I have installed XP SP3 on two PCs here at work and have a problem with windows update. Windows update has tried to install old versions of their mal. software removal program, ie: Feb,March and Aprils ones. Plus an IE7 update. All have failed. Everything else appears fine. Has anyone else come across this problem? Jeff. |

Dont install the update for IE 7, since it doesnt need it. Its probably a bug. Ignore the update when it pops up, or go to the windowsupdate site and untick the update. I didnt install that malware removal program, dont need it. |

Slightly different update list (.Net 2, Windows Media Player), but the general symptoms are Windows Update fails and the failures do not appear in the update history anywhere. I followed method 1 from this knowledge base article and it resolved it for me. support.microsoft.com |
