| 389228 | 2005-09-18 19:20:00 | I don't know if any of you on here are Lynyrd Skynyrd fans, hopefully some of you are. I found this petition started by Charlie Daniels to get Lynyrd Skynyrd inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The band has been eligible for induction since 1999 and they have been nominated every year since but never get inducted. One member from the Rock HOF referred to Skynyrd as "nothing more than the luckiest Bar Band around". There are many that agree with you including myself and Ozzy Osbourne: Six years ago, Ozzy Osbourne attempted to take BLACK SABBATH's name off the Hall of Fame's 1999 nomination list, deeming the institution's nod "meaningless." In an October 1999 letter to the Hall of Fame, Osbourne said: "Just take our name off the list. Save the ink. Forget about us. The nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans. It's voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the media, who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so their vote is irrelevant to me." He says, "Let's face it, BLACK SABBATH has never been media darlings. We're a people's band and that suits us just fine." And I hope Neill Young will remember A southern man don't need him round anyhow The Rock & Roll HOF means less and loses more of its credibility every year here in the US . Their nominees this year and inductees in previous years stretches the meaning of true Rock & Roll :illogical :groan: Glad to see that I found at least one Skynyrd fan over there in your beautiful country . I had noticed that several people had signed the petition and remarked that they were fans from NZ, so I thought that maybe there were more fans over there . :) |
