390141 2005-09-22 08:38:00 AS for comparing the 2 women who wanted their faces to be covered as they gave evidence, and Tama Iti; totally off-base.
Fair comment. Guilty as charged. I only made the comparison in a "change your legal process to suit my culture" kind of way.
I had no idea that Maori was accepted in a "Pakeha" court as a matter of course.
Can you tell I've never been in court? (touch wood)
:)

Very trivial when he clearly speaks English anyway.
Wouldn't mind if he paid for the translator/2 copies of all court documents/twice the time it will take etc out of his own pocket.
Poor old taxpayer paying for something so unnecessary. As usual.

I'd happily pay for translation services for a Chinese/Spanish/whatever tourist that has been a victim of crime while on holiday here, but it's hardly unnecessary in this case.

Like I said, he's just being difficult because he can.

And Terry, it's not "Maori bashing" at all.
It's the taxpayer getting the bashing. Again.

390142 2005-09-22 08:47:00 The rednecked Maori bashing is beginning to get to me.

Perhaps people should read some history about the Tuhoe, "The Children of the Mist' and Urewera.

The trouble is Terry that many people feel afraid to question Maori in case they are labelled as racists or rednecks.

Not everything Maori is right or sacrosanct. Iti discharged the gun - it was in a very public place with people everywhere and on TV. A tad dangerous IMHO.

390143 2005-09-22 08:52:00 You would think the courts would be fluent in maori as they are pretty much over represented in court.. :D plod (107)

No, you're thinking of prisons.
:D

Oh, that's "Maori-bashing". Sorry. Never let the facts (www.corrections.govt.nz) get in the way of political correctness.

Winston makes a very valid point, though.
Many (obviously not me) are scared of saying anything other than that Maori are the greatest race on God's green Earth, for fear of being branded racist.

No race is immune from criticism.

390145 2005-09-22 09:25:00 Ok TAZZ, what say you now identify my Redneck comments?Reread your posts in the other Maori bashing thread just last week.

If you need me to show you, then obviously ya more bigoted than you realise. Realise this, underneath we all bleed and its all red. What colour we are on the outside makes no difference as to whether we are rapists, thieves, bigots, or god-fearing.

390148 2005-09-22 09:45:00 I agree with Tazz. I'm sick of hearing all this whitey (I am one myself) whingeing about the Tangata Whenua. All the gormless generalisations and prejudices given an airing by Don Brash ****-stirring in Orewa. (cf: the munich putsch.)

Get used to it. We are (at least) a bi-cultural country.

Sure there are nutters and rip-off artists. Is this the first race you've heard about from? Strilke a light.

390149 2005-09-22 10:01:00 Wouldnt it be nice if we were ALL NZers. No special priviliges or rights for anyboby. One for all & all for one as D'Artagnion said. No matter which country we came from, we could all cite bad things done to us in our histories. All gone now, who cares. Live for today & the future. Our children are the future, whatever race. 390150 2005-09-22 10:18:00 Come on TAZZ. Where are these “Red Neck”, “Maori Bashing”, “Bigoted”, posts you speak of?

A figment of your imagination I suggest.
