Reason is not a strong point with this fellow,or for that matter most of his ilk.
If Te Rauparaha were alive today the pot would have been boiling long ago,his technique was quite effective.

390133 2005-09-22 05:13:00 this guy can obviously speak english, so why does he have to make it difficult for everyone and purposly speak maori :groan:I guess it's up to him to defend himself in whichever way he feels would be most effective. I believe that he could probably communicate with the jury better if he spoke english, but if he feels otherwise it's his call, it's really only himself he is hurting/helping.

390134 2005-09-22 06:26:00 The only reason I brought it up was because of the mention of using a certain dialect.

Just makes it sound like he's trying to be as difficult as possible.

Either that, or it's "jobs for the boys".
How many Maori actually speak the particular dialect that he's demanding? The Iti family?

(crawls back under his rock)

390135 2005-09-22 06:50:00 The rednecked Maori bashing is beginning to get to me.

Perhaps people should read some history about the Tuhoe, "The Children of the Mist' and Urewera.

Perhaps we need the Borg. You will be assimilated. Then everyone will be the same.

390137 2005-09-22 07:11:00 I get sick of people going off about "Rednecks" and "Maori Bashing" as their only defence for a crime committed by a Maori.

If this guy spoke Swahili he would have been held in custody, tried and returned to prison by now.

Just what defence, in any language, do you think there is to discharging a firearm in a public place?

He’s wasting your money and mine and I’ve completely run out of patience with this Politically Correct nonsense.

Tell it how it is, that’s my opinion.

390138 2005-09-22 07:58:00 Believe it or not, some Maori actually speak Maori better than they speak english. Whether Tama Iti does or not, I don't know. But he has the choice to speak either language in court. While I don't usually agree with what he does, I do agree he can speak Maori in court (as has been said before, it is a national language).

AS for comparing the 2 women who wanted their faces to be covered as they gave evidence, and Tama Iti; totally off-base.
For the women its a way of life (you don't expose any more skin than you have to, unless its to your husband - period). For Tama Iti, he is just exercising his right to speak Te Reo. HOw is it the same??

Try and not mistake others who have ther own views as simply ignorant.

The person in question doesn't respect you,me,our mothers, our governement or anything we stand for. His daily life revolves around ridding "his" country of all of us.

He would spit in your face in a secound, and probally make soup of you if he could get away with it.
