| 389238 | 2005-09-20 22:59:00 | O the industry... :waughh: I work in the industry, and believe me, i loath it. Ego massaging, clicky, milking safe options well past the use by date, afraid of anything new - unless the old isn't selling, full of businusses that not only put making money before creativity, but often need to be reminded that the effectiveness of a show is governed by the creativness and dedication of its crew and creators, and not just by the how much $$ is spent. Of course when the money spent is on the said businesses with money borrowed by the indebted artist from the industry, it's easy to see where the bias comes from.... Awards???? Not worth a pinch of something i'm not allowed to say. All they mean is: Thanks for selling so many records over the years, we hope you are a good example so others can help us sell records and we can keep the heating on all the home swimming pools switched on! As for Ozzy (AKA drugs are good/bad/something/what was the question :p) good on him. He's realised. |

| 389241 | 2005-09-20 23:18:00 | Their nominees this year and inductees in previous years stretches the meaning of true Rock & Roll :illogical :groan: Can someone please explain to me the meaning of "true Rock & Roll" ? Seems to me that RnR had it's roots in rebelous new music, therefore anything established enough is too stale to qualify as "true Rock & Roll" , and anything too new is, well, too new Perhaps only recordings can qualify? RnR as a retrospective movement? I don't believe there is such a thing as "true Rock & Roll" simply because that was then and this is now. If there is "true Rock & Roll" then RnR is dead. I believe that RnR is a mongrel force, it is evolving and hopefully continues too. It will continue to grow and mutate. That is both its beauty and its curse. |

| 389242 | 2005-09-20 23:29:00 | Glad to see that I found at least one Skynyrd fan over there in your beautiful country. I had noticed that several people had signed the petition and remarked that they were fans from NZ, so I thought that maybe there were more fans over there. :) Yes there are plenty of fans in NZ but they are probably a bit grey haired these days and don't know about the petition. Maybe I'll email a few friends. :D |

That is both its beauty and its curse. Personally I've never been inspired by the " Roll" part of the genre. It is a hangover from the 1950s early 60s. "Rock music" is the proper classification. It encompasses Heavy Rock (Metal), Glam, Punk, Acid Rock, Grunge, Alternative, and mainstream which was English in the early days - The Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Stones etc. Later the American sound took over - Boston, GunsnRoses, Nirvana, Metallica, etc. But it is all a matter of taste and you can call it whatever you like. |

Rock n Roll died when the corperote whores took creative control of the albums. As to what it is? Rock n Roll is a gut feeling.a flashpoint, an emotion. The cressendo and the crash. Personified by AC/DC... |
