388937 2005-09-17 07:30:00 TV 3 will be offering a webcast of this year's election TV coverage at the following address: tv3.co.nz

John Campbell covers the 2005 General Election with a panel of expert commentators including Michael Laws an ex-National MP and current Mayor of Wanganui and Dr. Therese Arseneau , a political scientist at the University of Canterbury. Join TV3's top political correspondents as they report live from the key election venues from around New Zealand. Results will be brought to viewers instantaneously direct from the Electoral Office computers and coverage will not end until we have a new government!

Unfortunately it is only available in Windows Media Player format and the stream is pretty low quality. I was kind of hoping for a data rate higher than 46kbs and a QuickTime H.264 stream, but I guess it is a step in the right direction. :)

388938 2005-09-17 07:36:00 In the meantime... you can still watch TV3 news! :D techie (7177)
388939 2005-09-17 07:47:00 That is true. :D

It is interesting to note that R2 streams TV One and 2 as well but many of the lower bitrate streams don't work and the 384kbs streams are a touch to quick for those of us on 265k. Unfortunately they only seem to have a 46k stream for TV3, which was setup yesterday. However, it is good to see that there are attempts to stream video online even if it is low quality and in WMV rather than QT. :)

388940 2005-09-17 08:17:00 Why go thru TV3 when you can get it from the electoral office? (http://www.electionresults.govt.nz/)

It's slower! At the moment, 4% has been counted. However, according to the "official" site, only 2.6% has.
