670922 2008-05-20 01:28:00 What format do I need to change mpegs etc to play them through my dvd/television?
Any suggestions for software to do this would be appreciated to.
Thanks in advance.

670923 2008-05-20 01:30:00 Well DVD format.

So a DVD can read it / then play it

This may work (http://www.cdburnerxp.se)

Cant remember if it loads MPEG's tho. But its free, but wont let you do any fancy menus.

Nerovision can, and a lot of other programs, but most of them arent free.

670924 2008-05-20 01:32:00 It depends on how you are planning on playing them.
Is your PC connected to your TV?
If not then just create a DVD with Nero Vision, it will convert the mpeg into VOB's as part of the DVD process.

SOME DVD players will burn mpeg's directly but not all.

Also a lot will depend on the MPEG. What Codec it was made with and whether it is MPEG1 or 2 as to the end result.

670925 2008-05-20 01:53:00 Yep depends on the DVD player. I have 2 DVD players connected to my TV. One is a 5 year old Pioneer and the other a 2 month old Sony DVD HD recorder. They both play differant formats of video.

670926 2008-05-20 02:33:00 I'm assuming you mean to burn the mpegs to DVD, then play them on your run-of-the-mill DVD player.

Use DVDFlick (http://www.dvdflick.net), that should do it for you.

670927 2008-05-20 05:42:00 Considering its already in mpeg (im assuming mpeg-1) just burn a vcd on a blank cdr. Very fast and cheap process as you aren't converting mpeg-1 to any other format for vcd, just burning it to disc under .dat extension. vk_dre (195)
670928 2008-05-20 05:48:00 Or if you're really uber keen invest in a divx player ($75 when i bought a philips one from Harvey Norman) and convert your mpegs to avi (using Virtual Dub (www.google.co.nz)) and you can burn tonnes of videos to a single dvdr disc and play them back on your tv. vk_dre (195)
670929 2008-05-20 07:20:00 DVD Flick's a decent GUI for converting video to DVD-Video. Todays GotD (www.giveawayoftheday.com) is a MPEG to DVD burner which I'm not familiar with but is worth a look, better be quick however as it only has about 30 mins left on the clock.

Edit: Actually, looking at the thumbs up to thumbs down, probably ignore this GotD.
