670934 2008-05-20 00:19:00 Are trying to identify exactly what has died in this system.
It is giving a long beep then a pause then same again repeating.
It has the Phoenix-Award Bios
Is has a Winfast-Foxconn NF4K8aC-8EKRS Mobo
I have looked up the error codes but it is a bit vague as to what componant it could be. Weather Mobo, CPU, Ram or GPU
It has 4 sticks of ram which I have progressively removed & I have tryed another vidio card with no change.
That would tend to point to mobo or cpu, but which one? 		Driftwood (5551)

670937 2008-05-20 01:54:00 I think last time this happened to me it was a RAM problem. You said you tried taking sticks out, but did you try completely different ones?

Did you try the sticks in another computer?

Is the BIOS battery good? (should be 3v) - have you tried resetting BIOS?

I,ve tryed them individualy.
New cmos battery last month, I will try a reset but I don't think it's getting that far. 		Driftwood (5551)

he only AwardBIOS beep code indicates that a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information. This beep code consists of a single long beep followed by two short beeps. Any other beeps are probably a RAM (Random Access Memory) problems.

Try removing all the RAM - then put 1 in at a time, start with 1, see if you get the beep, if not turn off PC, remove RAm and try another - repeat with each one separately to make sure there's not 1 causing the problem. 		wainuitech (129)

Award BIOS Beep Codes
Award BIOS uses beeps of varying duration. A long beep will typically last for 2 seconds while a short beep will last only 1 second. Award BIOS also uses beeps of different frequency to indicate critical errors. If an Award BIOS detects that the CPU is overheating it may play a high pitched repeating beep while the computer is running.

Phoenix BIOS Beep Codes
Phoenix BIOS uses beep code patterns to indicate problems. In the table below the '-' indicates a brief pause between beeps.
Example: 1 - 1 - 2 would sound like BEEP <pause> BEEP <pause> BEEP BEEP

670941 2008-05-20 08:25:00 Generally I have found beeps caused by RAM indicates badly seated RAM or incompatible RAM rather than faulty RAM.

Run a RAM tester on it - best way to see if the RAM has a problem. 		pctek (84)

There was nothing showing on the screen, that why I tryed another known good GPU.
Wainui, I had tryed what you suggested with the ram with no change.
The error code would be as 1 - 1 - 1 which dosent seem to get a mention.
However after taking out the cmos battery & resetting the bios it came back to life. So now the question is what caused it. I Had changed the sound card yesterday but that went in allright once I got the drivers sorted. 		Driftwood (5551)
