| 391526 | 2005-09-28 05:05:00 | All things fall given time, and MS are already suffocating under their own weight, I couldn't guess as to the time frame but at some stage something will be able to compete with Winsuck for the desktop market. I was hopping the Japs would come out with an OS, anything the yanks can make the Japs can do better. A new OS is plausable, and there will be a hole in the market when MS kill off their old software to force everyone over to Vista. I had hpped to see some groth in the generation that is drawing to a close yet Linux didn't get out of its hole and Apple insist on keeping to their current gameplan. So, We look elsewhere and we see Google....... |

Looking gift horses in the mouth is not supposed to be proper etiquette . . . but this needs a thorough look-see . There's a mighty current under the GMail, GVideo, GNews, GChat, and it's alliance with the whole Mozilla Suite . Do we smell collective rats? . . . . . . . another thing . . . I suppose there are gonna be a lot of nay-sayers over this point . . . but . . . . I think the ripened (or rottened) feelings that many people have with the cavalier attitude of Mr . Bill would make ANYTHING else offered that did the same thing or more and did it better and was offered (at least in the Beta) as free, would gladly be accepted by most any thinking person . . . . no insult intended to Lin users . Mr . Bill is scrambling around . . . remember the rumors that he was going into the security business? This was b4 the time of this latest expose` over the Google OPSYS Beta that may or may not even exist . Time wounds all heels . :groan: |

| 391528 | 2005-09-28 08:02:00 | I certainly hope so and, I hope it's viable. Chill, I disagree. There are no end of benefits to Google capturing a chunk of the OS market. I doubt we'll see them trot out a traditional OS in the Windows mould, at least I hope not, because I don't think it will work. Will we see a convergence of OSs on the net or, more cross platform diversity and is that the same thing, hope so. A lot of hope in those thoughts, here's hoping it's not hopeless :D |

It will be more secure than a Unix box, easier than Windows to use, and have a smarter look than an Apple . The one thing people may complain about is the intergration of all the Gapps, but then there will always be moaning . . . . people . |

I could think of better role models. As for tall poppies, if they want to pop their heads up into the sun, then they got to take the bad with the good. Not bad compenasation if you can get it though. |
