390831 2005-09-25 15:04:00 I wait up till 2am, and the damn fool stalls it on the start line...

.....And that Haka was an embarresment, If people feel its over used in the Rugby then wait till they see that, was nearly a mockery.

390833 2005-09-25 22:43:00 A1GP, The world cup of Motorsport, The Kiwi team qualified 2nd, then came 3rd in the first race, then stalled on the start in the main event...

Had to start the race from the pits, behind the entire feild, Managed to claw his way up to 4th by race end so he's a bit of a champ.Great racing, Everyone fought for their place and drove hard.

Great day so far, Hillbilly jack just walked sheep crap into my carpet, a few terse words later I had him on the floor with carpet cleaner and a rag scrubbing it out.....

390836 2005-09-25 23:56:00 I stayed up late watching that A1GP too. However, I don't think it is appropriate to perform haka. Don't tell me that haka is necessary whenever New Zealanders have done something remarkable? I guess most of the people would be wondering what on earth is happening in front of our New Zealand driver.

Cheers :)

Its my pet hate, apparently the haka must be performed everywhere for any reason at all.
Funerals, meetings, sports events, weddings, probably just because the dog did something cute.

When you follow the words its completely meaningless. I would have thought originally Maori had a number of different celebratory things to perform depending on the situation but now theres only the haka.

390839 2005-09-26 01:50:00 Where is Speedy Gonzalez...? Still, I suppose haka is something all NZers are proud of since it is so unique?

Cheers :)

390840 2005-09-26 02:07:00 Pretty much all pacific nations have a Haka, It a war dance and back in the day they were perhaps more required then now.

I think it has its place in the rugby, But then the Haka isn't mine and some traditionaistls(Maori's that is, not traditionalist rugby players) object to it being used. Though it would mean nothing to me if they stopped using it.

The Haka is defnitly overused in the sporting world, its ruining it, pretty soon the Netballers will be throwing out a haka before each match.

As for it being used too much ouside the sporting world, perhaps its all they know?, Due to family ties I have attented a few celebrations over the years with family that have strong ties to their background, Not a Haka in sight, though plenty of singing and traditional speeches....

Great stuff to see how its really done from time to time.
