| 390697 | 2005-09-25 06:35:00 | Just came across a video clip (www.compfused.com) of the emergency landing that the Jetblue plane made last week and have to say that I have much admiration for the pilot's skills in bringing that bird down so neatly. :cool: News reports say that he jokingly apologised afterwards for being six inches off the centre line of the runway but it looks pretty perfect to me, especially under the circumstances. The guy must have nerves of steel. :eek: |

| 390698 | 2005-09-25 08:02:00 | Reminds me of the great skills the pilot had several years ago when a United Airlines plane had its cargo door blow out. American pilots ain't half bad. | Greg (193) | ||

The first third or quarter looked to be right on the centre line - but who could fault it !!! :thumbs: Had to switch off ZoneAlarm to be able to get the link . ZoneAlarm seems to be causing me a lot of grief lately in being able (or not able) to connect to the web !! :dogeye: Misty ;) |

| 390702 | 2005-09-25 09:38:00 | en.wikipedia.org made a movie of that event (not surprisingly :rolleyes: ) which I've seen. Amazing flying and one lot of very lucky passengers ... | Jen (38) | ||

Was it the original you watched or a reconstruction? They certainly were a lucky bunch, that's for sure . Can you remember the movie's title, Jen? How long ago did you see it? I vaguely remember hearing about a plane flying through some volcanic ash quite a few years ago causing them to lose their engines as well . Not sure of the exact details but I think they had to glide for ages before they were out of the ash and the engines able to be fired up again . |

| 390705 | 2005-09-25 10:06:00 | Can you remember the movie's title, Jen? How long ago did you see it?It must of been on at least a year ago, but on free to air TV as I don't have SKY. This is it here (www.imdb.com). Have to laugh at the quote at the bottom of that page: Rick Dion: You don't want the oxygen masks popping out. It might panic the passengers. Capt. Bob Pearson: "Might panic"? Heh. I'm surprised they're not back there knitting their own parachutes right now. |

The flames come and go as the tyre moves over the painted lines - the paint is obviously flammable. Seems pretty dodgy having flammable paint on a runway if you ask me. :eek: Jen: Thanks for that, I'll check whether the DVD hire shop has it in stock next time I am in there. |
